“The sad story of Annandale station in the heart of the Simpson desert”

Among the ruins of the station, there are three bush graves, marked by wooden crosses bound with wire. A two of Hurtle Wilfrid Lethbridge and Darwin Thomas Richardson Lethbridge, boys aged eight and two. The legend tells that the station manager went away for 18 months to work as a “ringer”. the station manager’s wife, went insane, fearful of isolation and starvation, and poisoned the children in 1922.

When the police arrived after some time she had killed herself as well…
